Former British rally champion David Higgins is facing a race against time to secure the budget to contest this year’s British Rally Championship.
The situation has arisen due to the current economic climate, which leaves TQ.com unable to continue their full sponsorship of the FX Motor Sports-run car.
“TQ cannot continue to back the FX cars, but we are very thankful for all of the help they have given us since they started working with me on Rally GB in 2006,” said Higgins. “Team owner Hugh Evans and myself are now working flat out to try and keep us going. With all the hard work and development we’ve done together since we started FX Motor Sports last year, it would be heartbreaking to have to pull out of the championship now.
“Finding sponsorship is made harder for everyone this year because of the economic climate, so for us to start looking for money at this late stage is making it even harder. By this stage in the year we would usually have done a lot of the budget finding work, so we have a tough time ahead of us preparing for the new season.
"If anyone would like to get involved with the team this year, they should contact me by emailing sponsorship@davidhigginsrally.com or by calling me on 07595 203817."
The British championship begins on 28th March with the International Bulldog Rally, which is new to the series for 2009.
