Rally GB update: Sunday, end of event

David and Ieuan have successfully cleared the final stage of Wales Rally GB and are en route to the finish ramp in Cardiff. Despite their off yesterday, they have finished fifth in the final round of the British championship.

Sadly, the last stage did not go well for Hugh and Iestyn when the sump on their Subuaru Impreza bust, and they were forced to retire.

After leading the points for the majority of the year, David finished third overall in the standings, with Hugh tenth on what is only the second year in the championship for the FX Motor Sports boss. And in their debut year running their own cars as FX Motor Sports, Hugh and David's TQ.com team finished second overall in the BRC teams championship.

Many thanks to everyone who has supported David, Ieuan, Hugh, Iestyn, and the whole TQ.com FX Motor Sports team this year - on the stages, in the service park, and via this site.

Rally GB update: Sunday, after SS17

David and Ieuan are back on the stages this morning, and reports are coming in that the car looks so good it's hard to believe they had an accident yesterday.

They, and Hugh and Iestyn, are safely through stage 17 with only two stages of the event left.

At service David reported losing his brakes in stages 16, and that his Tein suspension was working really well. Meanwhile Hugh says he is taking it steady and enjoying the stages.

***Update*** David has just cleared stage 18. One to go.

Rally GB update: David confirms he will rally again tomorrow

David has confirmed that he and his co-driver Ieuan Thomas will be re-starting the rally tomorrow.

"We slid off on the ice at very high speed and went down a ravine, about 70 metres," said David about his crash this morning. "We're told the Mitsubishis and other cars had big moments on that same section. Our FX Motor Sports crew have been fantastic today, they've worked hard to ensure we will be able to get back out on the stages tomorrow, and we're looking forward to it."

Meanwhile, David's TQ.com team mate - and team boss - Hugh Evans continues to perform well on his second ever WRC event. He, and his co-driver Iestyn, finished the day lying fifth overall in the BRC points.

Tomorrow's stages begin at 07.55 with the Rheola stage. The final stage of the event, Port Talbot 2, will begin at 12.18.

More news tomorrow.

Rally GB update: Saturday

When the cars came out of the first stage of the day, Resolfen, David and Ieuan lay third in the BRC behind PWRC regular Patrik Flodin and Guy Wilks. Their time through the first stage of the day having only been 0.7 seconds behind Guy.

But as details of the second stage of the day, Halfway, started to come through it appeared the TQ.com boys had disappeared. It was later confirmed that David and Ieuan had crashed in the stage.

Both men were unhurt, and are optimistic about getting the car back on the road tomorrow to take advantage of superally rules, and gain points for the TQ.com team.

Meanwhile, after stage 11, their TQ.com team mates Hugh and Iestyn lie fifth in the BRC points in their FX Motor Sports-run Subaru Impreza.

David's brother Mark has also gone out of the event this morning, in the first stage.

Rally GB update: End of leg one, round six of the BRC

Today's leg of Wales Rally GB counted as round six of the British Rally Championship, and David and Ieuan took another third place points finish.

While Guy Wilks took top points, it was PWRC competitor Patrik Flodin who took second placed points, having registered for the BRC before the Pirelli International Rally earlier this year.

Hugh and Iestyn took a fantastic fifth place finish in the BRC points, on what was only Hugh's second attempt at Rally GB. Their combined points haul leaves the TQ.com team equal on points with Mitsubishi for the coveted teams title, going into the final round of the BRC tomorrow and Sunday.

Speaking about the conditions today, David said, "There were sections where it was good grip, sections where there was no grip at all, and places where you went through big ruts so it wasn't easy on the car, but that's what Rally GB's all about."

The first car is due into Resolfen at 08.18 tomorrow morning, so remember to keep an eye on the results here to follow David and Hugh's progress.

Rally GB update to stage 4

As the wintery conditions continue on Wales Rally GB, stages one and four have both been cancelled this morning after the FIA Satefy Delegate decided there was too much ice on the stages for them to run safely.

So with two of the four stages run, David and Ieuan currently lie fourth in the BRC points behind Guy Wilks, Patrik Flodin and Gwyndaf Evans. David is reporting a slight misfire, but otherwise all is good. Hugh and Iestyn lie seventh in the BRC points.

Now missing from the BRC line up is David's brother Mark, who crashed on the third stage. Initial reports indicate that he will try to re-start the event tomorrow using superally rules.

More news tonight.

Rally GB, Tuesday: The recce

As snow and frost gets a firm grip on Wales, even five-time world champion Sebastien Loeb fell foul of the conditions and slid into a ditch.

Sadly, David and his co-driver Ieuan Thomas did too... "We had a small off over a bridge, and were towed out," said David, but it wasn't getting him down. "It's very tricky out there, but good fun, and what rallying is all about."

More news tomorrow.
